Advice on the recommendations Aural Rehab?
I am a student working on my SLP plan first Aural Rehab. I studied all semester, and it's cool to try to come up with a plan for a patient. My teacher gave me an audiogram that shows a severe bilateral severe to profound loss of a wife of 25 years. His SRT is 75 for both ears, but the professor notes that it does well with hearing aids. Recommendations I thought were for the college include: note taker, an FM system. Other Recommendations: Blue tooth compatible for help, Telephone Amplifier, Alarm pillow, I found this device that amplifies the ringing of a telephone and doorbell television, listen … Any thoughts or recommendations? You came with some excellent suggestions. Additional information – most colleges have an office disabilities that serves students with disabilities. It is good to register if you have a disability. I have a Hearing Loss and register with the Office of the disabled priority check me for classes. It was a great cause as a freshman you usually have to wait for people Seniors / juniors / sophomores chose the classes they want, then you can register. With priority check, you can register on the first day regardless of what year you are. The idea of hearing loss is so you can enter the class size from a conference room with 200 to 500 students in it. As an added bonus the classes I wanted to take were never complete! Another suggestion is the seats in front of the room. For someone who calls with a severe loss may need a TTY or Captel or need to use a relay service. Some TV systems does not work with hearing aids. Subtitling is a great tool. In addition, this person may be a candidate for a cochlear implant, even if they do well with hearing aids, the implant is far superior to the loss of deep bass.
